[ARC5] How delivery services treat our radio packages

I sent a GRC-106A in pristine condition to Japan some years back by UPS and it made the trek and the agent in Tokyo tossed it off the back of the Lori in the so called foam pack and it actually broke the frame of the PA unit.  Took me nearly a year to get UPS to pay for the thing since they said it was not packed properly even thought I'd payed them to foam pack the item.  Should have known better when I had them foam pack a swan 600R and 600T  which was also trashned and that too took forever and a threatened law suit before I could get them to pay for the loss.  That's the last time I use UPS.  Been with FEDEX and USPS ever since.  I did lose on package to FEDEX out of hundreds and I was made whole within a week on the FEDEX claim.  I always double box all big ticket items.  I've only had one loss to FEDEX using tht system and I think most shipping losses are probems with packing and not the carrier.  Fuuud fer thotBob,KE6F

There's also the Instapak system in which the foam is contained in a bag
that conforms to the shape of the item being shipped, and doesn't
require any capital equipment, making it more likely to be an option for
smaller pack and ship companies.    2 minute video shows it here:
