I have a German "trench set" ca. 1917, model " M.Fuk. " I think, which type name represents "Medium size wireless set".
This model is seen in one volume of Fritz Trenkle's 3 volume set, and was also subject of an AWA article last year. It's the
size of a bushel apple box. The receiver is a crystal detector, but Trenkle's text says it was mostly used with external vacuum
tube detector to improve sensitivity and thus working range. I really need to sell this thing off this summer. Before I can do
that, I want to trace and draw the circuit, get more photos, and translate a letter I have from the manufacturer. I last tried
it out around 1980, a long time ago. The cascade of sparks down the "quenched gap" was a marvelous sight to behold. It also
occurred to me, I could do one last "broadcast" on 500 kHz, the famous old ship frequency.
