[ARC5] [External Sender] Re: Battery Report

I have found many cases where a smaller physical size battery (say a "AA"
or "AAA" cell) is inside a larger case (such as a "C" cell) with spacing
material.

As the "AA" batteries can now be made in higher capacities, it's getting
common.

These are often referred to as "sub" cells - eg "sub C" or "sub D".

One can do this at home as well (I regularly do this) as the cost of even
high capacity "AA" batteries is often less than the cost of similar "C" and
"D" cells.

You can find the spacers (adaptors, cases) online and I've seen them once
or twice at Home Depot and Lowes.

As for leakage, I gave up on Duracells years ago for that very reason.

Don't know about the long term leakage, but I usually use alkaline
batteries from IKEA now but I notice their rechargeables aren't as high
capacity as they used to be.

Full disclaimer - family member(s) work at our local IKEA.
