Remember that ham fellow, a K6, who wrote a ( softcover ) book on HF mobile operating?
The book that was advertised for years in 'Worldradio' magazine?
I can't recall his name right now...think I missed out on the book too....
I learned much too late that he held the same role in a PBY of the 'Black Cats' group in the
So. Pacific. I think he should have written his memoirs as well ! Or that I should have
interviewed him !
I think I may have reviewed here a book I read, memoir of a Navy man who went from
battleship to being aircraft radioman on PBY, Pacific. That's where that story came from,
that I recounted: he was told to turn in his leather jacket, as it was "Navy property", and as
being "used", altho never actually used, it was to be destroyed. But he stated it was "lost
in action", and the officer could never prove that was not true. ( Another 'Your tax dollars
at work' story. ) -Hue Miller
