I'd say the homebrew receiver weighs in at 30 pounds or so.   The front
panel is fairly thin (like 18ga) steel and a little flimsy, although it
doesn't affect the stability much a 1/8" panel would have been nice.
The power transformer is a replacement for the original as the holes
don't line up and it seems to be bigger and heavier than necessary.

I'm going to try to make a vinyl overlay for the front panel, something
I've wanted to try anyhow.   I should be able to create the artwork
using Inkscape which produces vector rather than raster graphic output,
such as .svg file.    I guess not being in the business I take for
granted all the color graphics we see every day, but I found plenty of
customer one-off print shops that can do virtually any size on
self-adhesive vinyl and other materials.   Since this isn't like trying
to re-create the look of a Collins or something, it should be a good
example to learn from.    Hopefully will be a good option for homebrew
projects.
