Robert,  the expansion "Aircraft Transmitter, Collins" sounds to me like it had the same kind of genesis as the "Talk Between Ships". 
Or another stretch, "Man's Best Friend" for the 70 MHz transceiver MBF. 

Here is a little oddity I noticed. The1929  M.E. manual has name written exactly like that, with period after each letter. This seems to have
been dropped by, when, early 1930s ? Now we mostly don't write U.S.A., we just write USA and everyone knows we don't mean Usa,
Japan.  So that was a product of the less use of the 'period' mark. 
To digress even more, I have seen some Old West photos where some of the false-front business had names like this: 
Palace Hotel.
Apothecary.   

using the period. Odd. Oh well.
