That's the figure I first heard back around 1985. 
But then, get this, postwar, the wiring on many was rewired to plastic wiring. That did not come cheap, either.
I was also told $1000 each for the RBM receivers. 
Both figures a whole lot more than the BC-348, which I think was around $300 ?

BTW, I was last night looking at some old ads, and I see in 1947 you could buy new, crated RAK's in lots of 50. 
But, where did the RAL's go at the same time?
