    It has never occurred to me to listen for the LO of a car 
radio. Presumably, it is FM the researchers are interested in 
since AM is dying in the U.S. (too bad). I am not current on the 
technology of car radios, do they all use the same IF as in the 
old days? IMO what has happened to broadcasting in the U.S. is 
disgusting but at least we still have some. My understanding is 
that Switzerland is discontinuing all FM broadcasting. Going to 
be all digital.
