BTW:

A few years ago the local power company came in and replaced all the incsndesent bulbs with CFLs. I've replaced all the ones I use with incandesants.

I had an enormous amount of noise on 80m which proved to be due to LED lighting in the house. When I turned off all the lights except for one known to be the old incandescent type, the level dropped to S5.

I use three Command set receivers as Q-5ers. Two LF sets and one BC band set for use with ARR-15, BC-348, and ARC-2 equipment. They allow acceptable use of these otherwise very wide receivers. And, BTW, my ambient NL is about S9 most of the time, some traceable to computers, lighting controls, and who-knows-what from the neighbors!
