The LEDs are much more efficient than the incandescent lamps.If you can get some with little to no RFI, why pay for more electricity than you need ?Besides, they run nice and cool. No more burning myself with bench lamps!

also turn off shortens the life. Often long service lamps are
used in places where they run continuously which can account for
part of the longer life. You may have noticed that most of the
time when a lamp fails it does so at turn on.
