[ARC5] RJ-45 Wire?

Right. And RJ-45 is the 8-contact flat connector, not the wire.
Multiple conductor or stranded tinsel wire is used for flexibility and resistance to taking a "set". Military audio cables for headsets and microphones almost always use it. Which is why they are crimp-only.

Note that when buying RJ45 crimp connectors there are different types for solid
and stranded cable. Yes, you are right about the solid vs. stranded uses.
Really cheap cable sometimes doesn't meet spec which can happen if there aren't
enough twists (fail on high data rates) or not copper but copper clad (fails on
long runs).
