No problema with lower loads, Jay.  The only caution is for loads over 
500 watts, so you're good to go with testing (assuming you've put a 
couple of drops of lube in the bearings).  Be aware that inertial spool 
up sometimes likes to rotate an unsecured alternator of this size, 
though.  Earplugs _are_ desirable, as well.  You might want to scan the

acquaintance with the infernal device. :-)
