No Dave, you have only just opened the avenue to the 800 cycle world of The Twilight Zone... I have one fairly complete GO-9 (with three blocks of wood glued on the bottom for mounts), one p.s. with the H.F. Tx (needing bits and pieces of hardware, has good paint), and one I.F., P.S.,H.F. for parts or restore (needing one of the meters and some tubes) and waiting for evaluation. I have two inverters, one looks complete, one needs the bottom cover/mount, both need testing. I have been slowly recovering from surgery so I'm not running to the garage to get it all out at this time but it's all together along with an ATD ( from August and a Chinese set from Red Star and '61 VW Bug, a '64 and '71 VW Type II). All high and dry and covered. So we can collaborate. The GO-9 with just the PS and HF sections suffered switch damage from a "knob twister" at a CHRS swap. I found a similar switch and dismantled it for the ceramic part that broke and repaired it without having to unsolder it so it looks good inside. Westinghouse also built the TBW (?) which is a mirror image of the GO-9 so there may be useable parts from those. Question for Mike Hanz: Is it OK to run the inverter without a load? Will the volunteer Fire Dept. show up? They did years ago when I started up my DynaJet… Dave, I still have that LORAN C set and I found the antenna for it also if you want it. 73 Jay KE6PPF (I don't even know if my call is valid as I've been out of circulation so long). -----Original Message-----

I have used a couple of the later solid state Behlman lab supplies in
the shack for years. They're apparently considered the Cadillac of lab
AC supplies, though there are certainly worthy competitors like the
Elgars that Peter mentioned earlier. And yes...they are *heavy*... but
quiet. If you are patient, you can usually find one that needs some
work on ebay for a lower price. The latest ACM models are way too
pricey for my budget, even used, but the older ones with analog meters
usually hang around on the auction site for a while and the seller may
be receptive to an offer.
At 500kva, a 50-C will satisfy most 400Hz needs. The 100-C model below
puts out a kilowatt of clean sine wave power - less than 0.5%
distortion. The frequency/voltage plug-in units run the gamut of stable
single frequencies, but there are two variable frequency oscillators
that offer 45-2000Hz ranges, like the one below that I sometimes use in
the 100-C for 800Hz equipment.
