Dave: Try shorting the switch contacts that opens the microphone circuit.
BTW, I believe all the TMN-6054As use the cartridge. Some are plastic, some
are metal. The earlier TMN-6013A is same microphone, but with a more
conventional connector, and colored grey/beige. Note that it is NOT a
standard 4 pin Amphenol connector -- the keyway is in a different location.
Get the control head too for the mating connector. While there are tons of
these around, folks have probably stopped carting them back and forth to
