Subject: Re: [ARC5] ARC5 Digest,
I had received a Syncal 2000 with bad LCD display. There was corrosion where the zebra strips couldn't connect to the very thin conductive coating as it was eaten away. No way to fix that. But the rest of the radio worked fine, so I programmed an Arduino to act as an I2C bus slave to replace the existing LCD driver chips and then drove a graphics display to recreate the original display, except with a bit more information like battery voltage. The project was a success, the radio looks great, better than the original, but was an enormous amount of work.
