[ARC5] Batteries That Do Not Corrode?

I just stopped by the  local Harbor Freight and bought a pack of 24 AA and 24 AAA for $3 each.  They say they are "Zinc chloride."  Whathell is zinc chloride?  And do they corrode as bad as the alkalines?  I guess I will find out.
