About two years after we were married and living in our first house in Saratoga Springs, NY, XYL Diane took off her wedding ring while she was kneading some dough for baking. She put it on the lid of the ceramic flour canister that we had on the kitchen counter because the lid had a recess below the mouth of the canister. Well, you can guess where this story is going...she needed some flour after a while, and forgetting the ring was on the lid, lifted the lid. She heard and heard the ring jump off the lid and go ka-chink a couple of times. We looked and looked everywhere in the kitchen for it but never found it. Our best guess is that it may have gone through the slats of a hot air duct outlet on the wall outboard of the kitchen table. We looked down into the duct as far as we could but didn’t see anything. It’s probably still there somewhere 40 years later.....

It was as if the gremlins knew the game was over - for now.
