I don't think there is any practical circumstance where a mis
tuned final could introduce FM or be narrow enough to filter
parrt of a sideband. In an FM transmitter its conceivable that a
mis tuned final might introduce some PM by slope detection. This
would apply to any tuned circuit the modulated signal went through.
To use controlled carrier the amplifiers it goes through
must be linear. Controlled carrier is useful in communications
systems where it is desired to reduce average power or to have a
signal which is compatible with linear amplifiers intended for SSB.
