There seems to be a discrepancy between the information
that was published in the NAVSHIPS manual, and the information
in the manual itself.
The NAVSHIPS listing specifies an output of .195 to 5 Mc, but
the manual only says the attached receiver should tune from 700 to
1300 kc. It goes on to mention that there is a broadly tuned output
circuit at 1000kc. The manuals mentions the ARA specifically,
but says that any good receiver covering the range can be used.

The manual does not mention or show an external oscillator.
The manual also says there are two antenna connectors, a push post to
use the aircraft's normal antenna(with a note to use the
shortest one possible), and an N connector if a coax
fed antenna is available.

Reading the manual seems to indicate that the usage was
intended to be in an airplane, but possible ground usage was mentioned
in passing.
