[ARC5] ARC-2

We had ARC-2s in the TS-2s (STOOFS) that I flew for multi-engine
training at NAS Corpus Christi in the mid 60s. We were required to get
an HF radio check with the Duty office in the hangar before we took off
on a training flight. Don't remember the frequency, but it was around 3 MHz.

Sometimes we could get a "Five By" on the ramp before we taxied, but
once clear of the pattern, there was no hope of making contact with
"Mother"! A fair amount of ignition noise came from those R-1820s. The
airplanes were old and tired, so I suspect between lack of PM's on the
radio and poor shielding on the aircraft wiring doomed our efforts.

Fun times!
