[ARC5] ARC-2?

The ARC-2 is maybe like the design of the ARC-5 in that the transmitter 
uses two 1625s modulated by another pair of 1625s.  I get 32 watts out 
of my unit.  The real issue is that the receiver is horribly broad, on 
the order of about 20+ kHz.  As such, when the bands are open, one gets 
a large slice of spectrum.  What I have done is use a Q-5er type 
operation. That is, I use an R-25 broadcast-band ARC-5 to tune to the 
/calculated/ IF.  The IF in the ARC-2 is not fixed.  Rather, it tunes 
from 1 to 1.5 MHz with a tracking front-end and LO.   The resultant IF 
for any given frequency has to be calculated,  For 3885, as example, the 
Q-5er receiver is tuned to about 1295 kHz.  The ARC-2 is a heavy as-H%LL 
unit, even without the dynamotor.  It runs on 250v and 500v (nominal) B+ 
voltages and 28v for relays, filaments, and auto-tune.  I run mine from 
a Heath HP-23 power supply and one of those 7A Ebay 28v switchers (no 
dynamotor, of course).  The "A" model does away with the thermocouple 
power output sensor as the burn out rapidly, anyway.  The two rear-panel 
pins that were soldered to in the photo are the +28v and ground pins.  
It may have worked, at some point?  Dynamotor inside?  Looks fairly 
clean but suggested price is, arguably, not reasonable.  All said, I 
like the one I have.....
