According to the book "Lightplanes at War" in Europe, at least, the AVR/AVT gear was replaced by the SCR-609 and SCR-610, the BC-659 being the major element.  

The book also says that the SCR-274-N replaced the AVR/AVT gear in the L-5G, which had a 24 volt electrical system.   The SCR-610 could also be installed in L-5's.

Some L-3's were equipped with the SCR-509, featuring the BC-620, which was designed for communication with armor units.
