This is a photo of the R-11 version, but the
connectors are the same except for the Antenna
(Now we know the "Circle M" R-11 is safe at NASM.
Thank you, Gordon). #1 interconnects with a
type-12 transmitter. There should be a jumper
plug under this cap when the receiver is
"stand-alone." If not, you'll need a six-pin
connector to make the jumper.
#2 is primary power. #3 is control box, audio out
etc.
When you get the receiver running, you'll think
the audio stage isn't working, as the noise output
will be low. It is working; it's just ingeniously
engineered to minimize headphone "fatigue" before
AM Squelch was common. With a properly-matched
speaker, strong signals, like those a pilot would
expect when talking to the Tower and local
traffic, will be much louder than the background
noise- easy speaker level. Weak signals will be
correspondingly less loud.
It's likely between Steve and Robert, all the
connectors are available.
