I used to get them at the local scrap yard super cheap when I lived in NY. I
don't think they are very common these days, replaced by better regulated
equipment and on-line UPSes. They worked just fine.
I got rid of all of mine during my last move. The weight adds up, even the 250
and 500 VA ones.
