My own contribution is this look at 40 meter WSPR spots - the top map
shows what was happening up to an hour before the M-Class flare at 1500Z
today, and the bottom map shows a 10 minute window afterward. The
adsorption turned off the DX paths like flipping a switch, and both 5
and 10 Mhz WWV remain absent at my QTH.

With the earth-directed CME hitting on the 8th, chances of aurora
sightings are high, but propagation will continue to be poor. The chart
in the upper-right of this image gives an idea of how much attenuation
occurs during these radio blackouts:
