I have found brushes at our local hardware store to fit the darnedest things: like brushes to
fit a 1930 Model "A" Ford generator, for instance.

I also found a starter motor to fit a PE-95 generator at the local farm implement store. Turns
out that the exact same engine used in the PE-95 is also used on a particular model of
combine. I also got a complete distributor there for the PE-95, which was built in 1944.

We found the PE-95 sitting in a University surplus warehouse. It had 4.5 hours on it, but
several bits, including the distributor, had deteriorated to the point it wouldn't work any
more.

After I refurbished it and converted to a starter motor from motoring the generator, it got
shipped to Alaska to a research project.

Interesting.
