[ARC5] our Texas friends

Report from John, K5ENQ, in Pearland, TX.
Thanks *so* much for the thoughts and prayers.  I am so happy to report that our family has, so far, escaped any major issues.  We are especially grateful because we have 4 children that, along with their families, have the "4 corners" of the greater Houston area covered - Humble TX, Katy TX, Richmond TX and Dickinson TX.  2 had very close calls, but none had any house flooding.  Carol and I did not really have a close call.
BUT...so many thousands are seriously affected.  I would say that the news reports are not exaggerating...it IS very, very bad.  Many thousands have lost everything.  Carol and I are Gulf Coast natives and have seen many hurricanes, tropical storms, etc.  It appears to us that Harvey is one of the, if not THE, most destructive of the lot, especially in terms of the flooding.  We did not have that much wind here in Pearland, but LOTS of water.
If any of you folks get requests for donations through your Church, Salvation Army, etc., please consider donating.  MUCH help is needed.
It is not over  yet, but looking much better.
Giving thanks for being spared (so far),JohnK5ENQ

Unfortunately, it looks like the "shelter in place" order was not such a good idea for Houston.I hope you guys are on high ground or got to somewhere that is.Good luck, we're hoping that it isn't as bad as they say.

 Hi,

There are several members of the list who live in Texas. Texas is large
and a big chunk of the state is safe from the storm and the damage it is
causing. Let's all think about our friends and their neighbors who are
NOT so safe there.

73,

Bill  KU8H
