[ARC5] Brian's deaf set. Has a 12SK7.

Yes, the assumptions do muddy the water. For all we know, he may have fixed it.
Repair is a matter of divide and conquer. From the info provided I'm still not sure if the problem is in the RF or the IF/det.It's easy enough to pull the mixer (killing the RF stages) and inject the IF., then there was the pin 4 controversy.
Still not clear if the caps were replaced.
Also, it was never clarified whether the pin 4 injection point was a typo or the one he actually used. Then the thread got on the "wrong tube" issue which seem to have been non-existent.
This happens all of the time in forums. An OP puts something out there, then there are pages of suggestions and assumptions, but the OP is never seen or heard from again. It's kind of funny ...

So, I'm following this thread and find it moderately interesting.  What I
hear is a lot of assumptions and things to check, but no feedback from Brian
- am I missing a bunch of posts from Brian that checks out the ideas from
the group?  Just wondering.  73 de don ad6pb

TO ALL

There ISN'T a 12FS7 in Brian's set - at least that's what I understand.
(I haven't seen his set, and Brian never explicitly said "12SK7"  to
me.)
But his set has a 12SK7.  12SK7.  Pentode, no diodes.

The misunderstanding comes from my attempt to clear up the difference
between Scott's observation that there isn't a pin #4 on the IF transformer
(correct) and Brian's comment that he fed the signal to pin #4.

Brian's set is stock.  It uses a 12SK7.  There, I said it.

Thanks to every-one who tried to clear up the misunderstanding.
