Dave,

I get a similar noise from our Maytag washer which has a variable AC motor.

Others have complained about similar noise from threadmill motors.

Fortunately my wife's washing schedule does not overlap with my operating schedule except for a Saturday morning sked.

I can tell her when the wash is finished:-)

Subject: [ARC5] Really Spooky Signal on 20 Meters.

OK, this is really weird. For weeks, the 20-meter phone
band at my location has had this wide-band pulsing
noise. Ran from about 14.240-14.330 MC 24/7.
It sounded "near field," so I finally broke-out my
portable HF direction finder and started hunting.
I walked out to the end of my driveway and got a
good signal, bearing East of my location.
So I went about a block to a local park and
still bearing East. So I put the rig in the truck
and drove East a mile. No signal. So I moved back
half the distance to the house. Nothing. Half-way again.
Nothing. In short, the signal, after being around
for weeks, suddenly disappeared exactly
when I started to hunt it. It has not come back.
I find this strange and makes me a little paranoid.

Here's the noise:

Any ideas??
