I looked again. Dave wrote "knob", not "dial".
I agree with Dave's original assessment. The knob is either a nt-23022 local tuner for RU-type (and other) USN receivers, or a MC-127 local tuner for SCR-A*-183/-185/-186/-187/-287 (and other) USAAC/F receivers.
