While I don't know what company built the AN/APR-9 equipment,
I do know that this was the standard ECM receiver for 1,000 MHz
and higher for the B-52s (up through F models) on which I served
as Electronic Warfare Officer. The nomenclature stated Airborne,
Radar, Receiver. AN/APR-14 (IIRC) covered 30-1000 MHz.

The companion jamming transmitters for APR-9 were AN/ALT-6B
(Airborne, Countermeasures, Transmitter).

That's what we had when B-52 missions started in Viet Nam on
18 June 1965.

Subject: Re: [ARC5] ARC-5 in the X-1

I just fired up an ARN-59 the other day, it had been sitting in my hangar for 8 years, and sat in the desert down in Tucson for 20+ years before that. Played right from the start, nary a bad capacitor. Same luck with my ARC-39s, they all work, and other that an occasional dirty contact, seem to go forever. FWIW. I was looking at some APR-9 ELINT gear the other day, and it seems to look like it was built by ARC. Anyone know if this is the case? Scott V. Johnson W7SVJ5111 E.
