[ARC5] Chassis Cleaning

I'm looking for some advice for cleaning up a Hallicrafters SX-43.

I want to clean the steel chassis top surface. I think the steel may have a plating. There is a little rust in spots but not too bad.

Can anyone recommend what should be used to clean and polish this type of chassis?

I'll be replacing a bunch of wax paper caps as soon as I get the chassis cleaned up.
