Is old-fashioned white vinegar better or worse than Deoxit?Boy, for the chemically-inclined writers among us, a comparison article is BEGGING to be written.73 de N3RHT

Hi All
OK, a TS-830S isn't an ARC-5 or mil radio, but I suspect a lot of you have addressed corrosion issues, so.....
A few months ago I did a relay replacement and recap job ona friends Kenwood TS-830S, along with addressing intermittent operation on40M.    After returning the radio to him,the radio worked flawlessly for about two weeks.  Afterwards the radio lost 40M capability. Prior to working on the radio I read up on the well know 40Missue, which is really corrosion on the band switch rivets.  I’m aware of the “correct” procedure to fixit, but I’m a bit dearth of doing that just yet. I cleared up the intermittent issue by cleaning the bandswitch with DeOxit.  As mentioned itworked fine afterwards (but only for two weeks) so I'm hoping the corrosionisn't that serious. Is there anything stronger than DeOxit that you canrecommend to get rid of minor corrosion on this band switch?  As said, I really don’t want to pull the bandswitch wafers out if I don’t have to. Thanks & 73
