I'm aware that aircraft were typically sent to modification centers for installation of special or mission/theater specific equipment; but was this true for basic and advanced trainers?
Some installation of mission-specific gear was done in-theater.  My dad was involved in this; his unit in the CBI (India) installed pathfinder radar gear into a number of new B-24s headed to China, to operate over Japan at night, very near the end of the war.

I have a BD-AR-93 (dynamotor for the SCR-AR-283),
with an NAS JAX overhaul sticker dated sometime in 1950.

Also has a paper tag with the stock number
R-16-D5565-600.  Isn't that a Navy stock number?

The paper tag says: "Attach forms NAVAER-26508B, C, D
or E in this space when required. "

No entry for "PLANE TYPE" which would have been interesting.
