[ARC5] OT The BC-659- what were they thinking?

Clarifying my earlier posting.
It sounded originally like someone may have been referring to a "2-3 MC" component of the 274N.  I've never heard of such, except in what was probably an erroneous listing  of various components, or maybe one of the articles, in the old CQ Command Sets handbook; it was referred to as the "scarce BC-456 transmitter."  The BC-456 number is a definite error.
Of course, I am well aware that there is an ATA covering 2.1-3 mc.  I too have one of those.
I think another posting referring to a BC-696 being supplied with the P-51s is the correct answer here.  The short antenna on a fighter wouldn't be very efficient below 3 mc, and probably not a lot better between 3 and 4 mc.

Here we go again with the ARC-5 name being used interchangeably with
SCR-274N.  Would Navy radios be used in P-51s?  Maybe so?

It is a 2.1 to 3.0 MHz transmitter, Mike. I have one here, and there is one
for sale on eBay
for $80.00 right now.
