For the us anal types sometimes it becomes necessary to remove component
leads or wires from a switch terminal in order to restore original
esthetics. To avoid stressing or breaking a switch wafer I remove ALL of
the solder so that loosely wrapped wires will wiggle when cooled. They get
carefully unwrapped or snipped free from the terminal. The tightly wrapped
leads are more likely to be snipped free for obvious reason. The main
bugaboo with this method is having to use good quality desoldering braid for
success. I've had best results with Tech-Spray and Tenma brand braids,
.100, .130, & .145 widths. Braids are not cheap but elegance has its price!
