[ARC5] Ceramic Versus Phenolic

"Can you tell what kind of phenolic? The mica filled kind is usually yellow or light tan in color." Answer: They all look to be dark brown.
Today I was working to make a octal socket breakout box and was using an old octal plug designed to be mounted with snap ring - or with a back cover for use at the end of a cable,
as in this case
It then occurred to me that a ceramic plug or socket probably would work less well when used at the end of a cable. I doubt the snap ring approach would work with one. I think all of the ceramic sockets I have seen have been the types with a bolt in mounting ring rather than the snap ring approach.
