No ,never published in ER. I did refer, though, to an ER article which described just how difficult it is to get to C-114. A description of my fix can be found in the “Pictures" section in Yahoo Groups, Angry 9. The mod has been successfully implemented in a couple more radios here since my original submission.
Update: Grounding the lead from “point 3 where it connects to the switch wiper” (quote from my Yahoo submission) may be extremely difficult in some GRC-9 models.
In the one case where this was encountered so far, skipping his step and relying on the leakage and remaining capacity of C-114 to provide the required (RF) ground here worked OK.
