I doubt very much.   The general population believed him a deity,  but I
doubt the Army leadership did.   To them, he was just a figurehead.   I
would suspect Yamamoto also didn't believe him a deity,  but he had more
reverence for Hirohito's position as emperor.    My opinions only based on
readings, but I can't cite any specific proof texts.
