CQ Magazine started publishing in 1945 and went through various staff members and actual owners until the Cowan family got ownership in the late 1940s.  The Cowans owned the magazine until it was bought by the present owners. Glen, K9STH

Curious. Radio started out as "Pacific Radio News" and became
"Radio" in 1922. "Pacific Radio News" is on
American Radio History.  "Radio" was taken over about 1947 and became CQ
and Audio Engineering.  I am not sure of the details.  "Radio" published
the well known "Radio Handbook".  I thought "Radio" was on the American
Radio History site but couldn't find it so I guess I imagined it. It was
sort of a West Coast competitor to QST.
