Amtrak uses 25 hz for traction power:

The NY City subway used 25 hz. I remember the incandescent bulbs flickering.

They converted the 25hz to 600volts DC via rotary converters for traction power. They have solid state converters today I believe their power feeds are now 60hz.

Methinks a typo!

Virtually every part of the United States uses 60 Hz power! Glen, K9STH Website: http://k9sth.net

I never heard of any US area that used 60 Hz power but areas around Niagara Falls used 25 Hz as late as 1950s!  Mac, K2GKK/5 in OKC, OK
