[ARC5] ARC5 Receiver Power Supply

I am helping an older ham friend clean out his garage, which includes
some ARC5 related equipment. One item is a very nicely built home-brew
power supply for ARC5 type receivers. It appears to be designed to
directly replace the dynamotor and has a connector that would plug in
right where the dynamotor would normally go.

It's fairly simply, consisting of two transformers, a single OB2 tube
and associated parts. Now the mystery is the extra pieces. There is an
octal socket and a cable with an RCA connector on the end. He remembers
that the socket was for a magic eye tube and the RCA connector would
have connected somewhere in the receiver. But he cannot remember the
details or exactly what eye tube type was used or what the function was.

I can't believe this is an original design, so I bet it was published
somewhere. I've done some Internet searching but have turned up nothing
so far. Does this description sound familiar to anyone here and if so
can you point me to more information on it?

The goal would be to sell the supply to someone who can use it, but I'd
like to be able to accurately describe what it is.
