I cannot help with 12SB7, but suggest you compare the xSB7 with xSA7.
According to the data here, the two have the same pin (base)
function/connection.
The xSA7 has half the conversion gain of the xSB7, and needs double the
bias.
Other parameters are close. I did NOT check the heater current for the
12SB7!
ESRC sell the 12SA7 for a reasonable price. The 12SA7 is available from
other sources too.
