Before you use the transformer for continuous duty you should check out the duty cycle of the UPS system.

Most of the consumer units are meant to run for a period of 15-30 minutes. The components are not rated for continuous duty.

There was a discussion about this issue in QST. Some operators wanted to replace their internal 7 amp-hour gel cell with an external battery with a higher capacity and were advised against it until they check the duty cycle of their UPS.

As they saying goes, you get what you pay for.
