[ARC5] BC-946B Question

Over the last few years I've picked up a few BC-946B (BC band command set rx) but am missing a 1st IF transformer for one of them. A member here sent me a few spares but they are the interstage (2nd IF) transformer. I under stand that the third IF transformers secondary is designed to match a diode load not the grid of an IF amp tube.
So the $64 dollar question is will the second IF transformer make an OK replacement for the first other than the mounting bracket??
