All,
I, also, watched this item on eBay with interest and didn't know what to make of it either,
( I planned to bid but work on a new product development effort took me away from my search for the "Holy Grail".( I don't even know what it is anymore..))
It's marked Serial X. Has a '41 date. There is a barely visible contract # but my screen resolution can't resolve it. It's black crinkle paint, Were any coil sets for BC-A*-183 painted? Not being too familiar with the Army Air Corps command sets of that time frame, the only ones I've seen were aluminum.
I presume "Serial X" means experimental and built in a small quantity.
Is it conceivable that when a requirement for ARC-5 Tx's T-15,-16,-17 was let to contract that a backwards compatible coil set was contracted to "mate" frequency wise GF-* sets with ARC-5 T-15,-16.17?
A long shot, I know well...(I always take the "long shot" at work and you'd be surprised how many times I've "hit the mark"!
Best to all for the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday! My two daughters are coming home and we're not having turkey! Yea! We're having Irish Turkey (Corned Beef) and Baked Salmon with Acorn squash, Artichokes or Asparagus, which ever is cheaper, Garlic Bread (maybe) and Punkin Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream.

I would second Dave's
request for info on the "special applications" (from
AN 16-30ARC5-2 para. 4-38)
of T-15, T-16, and T-17/ARC-5. It's the greatest mystery in Type K command set
history.
I'd also find Dave's other request interesting, which came out
incompletely in his recent post. I think the item of interest is that shown
here:

Dave...I have a big question
about that coil. What makes it a BC-A*-230 coil? There are electrical
differences, but it's difficult (to me) to distinguish *visually* between that
and a GF-* coil...the markings all indicate to me that its a GF-* coil, which
would still be remarkable!
