[ARC5] Broadcast band Transmitters

Any chance that the BCB ARC-5 sets were used in the Pacific Theater
to communicate with coastwatchers on remote islands?

What I am thinking was that it might have been dangerous for natives
if caught by the Japanese with shortwave radios, but not necessarily so
for ordinary BCB receivers. That might have allowed one-way passing
of coded messages.
