A long time ago I was at the estate of a ham, semi-private viewing, a
majority of whose worldly possessions were stored in a pole barn.   A big
pole barn.   It was like walking into a Kmart with the shelves.   The house
and barn were at the top of a hill, and it was fall.   The leaves had never
been raked that year, so I had no idea where the driveway was;  I just sort
of drove around trees until I reached the house.

Anyway, as I was scarfing up pieces and parts, and parts and pieces, I came
upon this dirty torn box on the top shelf in the back.

Contained therein was an old disassembled coil winder with instruction
sheet, the instructions partially eaten by a resident mouse.

I asked the price, and he looked at the old box and metal pieces inside and
said “one dollar”.

Worked for me.    “One Dollar” is the next best thing to “Free”.

Has anybody tried to rewind one of the audio output transformers?   If
someone’s got a dead one they’d care to part with, I’d like to cut it open
and do a post-mortem on it.     I’ve never used my winder except to fool
around, but this sounds like a good opportunity…..
