Curiously, US military nameplating didn't happen with the vast majority 
of the Bendix commercial equipment sets.  In fact, the only one I can 
think of that actually received a military nomenclature was the AN/ARC-9 
(RTA-1B transceiver).  The Navy, which used far more of the Bendix sets 
than the Army, seemed content to leave the manufacturers number on the 
set, and even the gray wrinkle paint scheme that graced the commercial 
equipment.  The Army got into the game a bit later and seems to have 
acquiesced to the Navy tradition.  I've always wondered why Bendix alone 
seems to have largely escaped the nomenclature wars.
