Hi Dave,

Did you notice that I haven't actually done that? I agree that the 
reward is not likely to be worth the effort even though it will probably 
work to one degree or other. That kind of effort is better spent 
building a whole new radio. Some people want to try things like that 
just for the exercise and there is nothing wrong with that at all.

As for my command receivers..they all have varying degrees of 
modification but basically are still working 'as designed'. Over time I 
have been herding them back toward original but that is like pushing 
string <evil grin>. I get the most use from one of my BC-453s logging 
NDBs and listening for the ham experimental stations on 630 meters. Some 
of it's flaws turn out to be 'advantages' snooping for the NDB stations. 
The variable audio filter is the only enhancement and if I unplug that 
the "mod" is reversed. Pretty easy.

I just gave you credit for having built a mockup of the radio position 
in a bomber and displaying it. Was I wrong? Was that really you? Do you 
still have that?
